How to Convert JPG Images to PDF

September 23, 20264 min readHow to combine photos or scans into a single PDF, choose the right page size and orientation, and keep full image quality.

Turning a stack of photos or scanned pages into a single PDF is one of the most common file conversions there is — submitting a scanned form, sending someone a set of receipt photos as one document, or archiving pictures in a format that won’t change or get compressed by a chat app. Here’s how the conversion works and how to control the result.

How to convert images to PDF

  1. Open the JPG to PDF tool and add your images — JPG or PNG, any number of them.
  2. Reorder them with the up/down arrows so they end up in the right page order.
  3. Choose a page size, orientation, and margin.
  4. Convert and download a single PDF with one image per page.

Choosing page size and orientation

  • A4 / Letter gives you a standard, printable document — each image is scaled to fit the page while keeping its proportions, centered within your chosen margin.
  • Fit to image makes the PDF page exactly the size of each photo (plus margin), which avoids any letterboxing — better for archiving than for printing.
  • Auto orientation picks portrait or landscape per image based on its own aspect ratio, so a mix of tall and wide photos each get the page shape that fits them best.

What happens to image quality

Each image is embedded into the PDF at its original resolution — JPGs are embedded as JPEG data and PNGs as PNG data, with no re-compression. The only thing that changes is how the image is scaled to fit the page you chose; at 100% fit-to-image with no margin, there’s effectively no scaling at all.

Need to go the other way and pull images back out of an existing PDF? That’s PDF to JPG.

A note on privacy

Conversion happens entirely in your browser using pdf-lib to build the PDF locally — your images are never uploaded anywhere, which matters for scanned IDs, signed documents, or personal photos.
